Information About Kullu :

                                    Kullu, a popular tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh located on the banks of the Beas river. With panoramic views and majestic hills covered with Deodar and Pine trees, it is a nature lover's paradise. Kullu generally coupled with its sister town Manali which is at on much higher altitude and provides more scenic views.

                        Situated at an altitude of 1230 meters between Pir Pranjal, Lower Himalayan, and Great Himalayan Ranges, Kullu is abundant with apple orchards, pristine river streams, and a wonderful climate. Tourists coming to Kullu and Manali can indulge in a lot of adventure sports activities like river rafting, trekking, mountaineering, etc. Bhuntar, the place that houses the airport and bus junction and is used as the base town to reach Manikaran, Kasol, Malana, Bhunter, and Rohtang Pass is located in Kullu. Kullu also has few important temples like the Raghunath Temple and Jagannath Devi Temple. Apart from temples, the Pandoh Dam and Chandrakhani Pass are also must-visits in this region.

Best Time To Visit Kullu :

                         Summers from March to June is the best time to visit Kullu. Winters are also a great time to visit Kullu for its festivities around Raghunath temple. For a more adventurous trip and to witness snowfall, winters are the best. However, monsoons must be avoided entirely as there are chances for landslides and it's risky to travel to Kullu.

How To Reach Kullu :

                    The railway station closest to Kullu is in Jogindernagar which is 125 kms away. Buses and taxis are easily available from there to Kullu. Kullu has its own airport in Bhunter and daily flights are operational from New Delhi and Chandigarh. Himachal Roadways operate luxury and economical buses from all nearby towns and even from New Delhi and it is one of the easiest ways to reach Kullu. People coming from places other than North India prefer to fly or take a train till Chandigarh and take a bus or a cab from there. Chandigarh is just 233 km away from Kullu.

. Great Himalayan National Park :

                              Great Himalayan National Park is one of India's national parks, which is located in the Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh. Surrounded on all three sides by the Himalayan Mountains, the park is home to diverse wildlife species. The Great Himalayan National Park received the status of a national park in 1999. At present, it is home to more than 375 species of fauna, 31 species of mammals, and 181 species of birds. This beautiful location of the national park becomes all the more attractive due to the Deodar and Oak trees.

                         The secluded location of the park has made sure that the villages inside the park have a culture of their own. Every village inside has a deity of its own. There are also some fairs organized here during April, May, August, and September. The Great Himalayan National Park is an amazing place to relax and unwind away from the fast life of the city. It is a must-visit for all the nature lovers out there.

2 . Raghunath Temple :

                     Located in the scintillating hill town of Kullu, the Raghunath Temple is one of the main attractions here. Wrapped around in an ancient legend, the temple finds connections to Lord Rama, and the idol of Lord Raghunath placed here, is said to be the same as the one used by him. While it derives much significance from the legend, the Raghunath Temple borrows its design and architecture from the Pahari and Pyramidal styles. Other than the spirituality surrounding the temple, the sceneries and views about it too are equally alluring. The oldest temple in the valley is a place of much festivity and color around and during Dussera and even otherwise assumes much religious importance amongst the locals.

3 . Bijli Mahadev Temple :

                  Located at an altitude of 2460 m at a hilltop in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, across the Beas River, Bijli Mahadev Temple is one of the ancient and sacred temples in India. As the name suggests, it is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is very popular for trekking. It is said that the Bijli Mahadev Temple houses a Shiva Linga which was broken into pieces by lightning, that was brought back together and bounded by a temple priest using butter. The word around is that this repeats itself every year.

4 . Pandoh Dam :

                   This man-made marvel stands out from much of nature's picture-perfect valleys and hills around it, with a rather spectacular and grand experience to offer to its viewer.

                        The unforgiving rush of water and a lake that is somewhat more at peace are the sights here that you should not miss, while in Kullu. The dam is a structure under the Bhakra Beas Management Board and diverts the water of the River Beas.

5 . Bhrigu Lake :

            A blazing blue Brighu Lake sits snug between two high-altitude ridges towards the east of Rohtang Pass. One of the many glacial lakes in Kullu Valley, this lake makes for a perfect weekend trek and is also well-suited for families. The remarkable thing about this trek is that one can reach an impressive altitude of 14,000 feet and experience snow over the second day of trekking! To add to that, the camping grounds at Rola Kholi and Pandu Ropa offer dream-like views to wake up to.

6 . Friendship Peak :

                       One of the trekkable summits in the Indian Himalayan region, the Friendship Peak looming at an elevation of 5,289 meters in the Pir Panjal range in Himachal Pradesh is a trekker's heaven.

                      From the summit, you can feast your eyes on the panoramic view of the Pir Panjal range and on the vicinity which is crowned with silver horizon formed by the Dhauladhar and Great Himalayan ranges. The Friendship Peak trek passes through the beautiful Solang Valley that houses several alpine meadows, thick forest dotted with varied species of alpine trees, colorful orchards, and crisscrossed by numerous small and gushing streams. Moreover, the journey drives you crazy once you reach a certain altitude, with steep climbs over the thick bed of snow and walking over glaciated tracks and narrow ridges.
